Natural Bridges Uncensored
Located just a few miles north of Brookings, Oregon, on Highway 101, the Natural Bridges has yet to be discovered. Parking is available on the west side of the 101, with spots for 10 cars.
During my visit, there were relatively few people visiting. Most were there is either snapping pics or getting their hike on. This place is truly a beautiful, serene destination, one where you can relax and breathe fresh air without crowds of people.
As you begin your hiking journey at Natural Bridges, expect numerous trails along the cliffs and mountainside, expect poorly marked paths, crazy shenanigans jumping over and going under logs and rocks, and using sketchy ropes to assist your journey.
The terrain (off the marked paths) is unpaved, extremely steep, covered with slippery shit – there’s a real chance that being a dumbass will lead to injuries (or worse). Safety should be your primary concern.
Like any destination, the risk yields amazing rewards with stunning photo opportunities and vantage points few have walked on before.
Oregon isn’t known for its great weather. I recommend planning to visit on a clear, sunny day – you’ll thank me. Avoid natural bridges on rainy days or directly after rain; the slippery topsoil will make unpaved hikes extremely dangerous. Also, leave enough time to hike before sunset to see the paths.
