Eve the rapper’s guide to London: Broadwick, Dorian and Edmund Bossman

Eve the rapper's guide to London: Broadwick, Dorian and Edmund Bossman

West London with my husband, Max [Cooper], my son, Wilde, my dog, Hendrix, and in and out with us are my four bonus kids, Lotus, Jagger, Cash and Mini.

I haven’t been on a first date in years and I don’t have one specific place because there are so many amazing spots. But Broadwick in Soho can be a perfect little sexy spot for a first date.

Which shops do you rely on?

So sadly, before Matches was shut down, that was my favourite. And I would go into the bricks and mortar as well as online. Now, I love Selfridges. It has everything.

What’s the best meal you’ve had?

Some of the best food that is consistently good is at Dorian in Notting Hill. It’s great. They change the menu, and everything is amazing. Everything. I was there three weeks ago. I had this giant scallop in this shell. It was beautiful. It was so good, everything’s good, it’s a great vibe. I was there with two of my girlfriends for a moms’ night out. It was really nice. Funnily enough, my husband hasn’t been once, so I owe him a date there.

What would you do if you were Mayor for the day?

Oh, my God, you know what I saw? And this is silly, but I just saw it on my TikTok not too long ago. They have these boats, which also look like a fire hazard in some way, but there’s these boats you can barbecue on. Everybody has to do it, every day, all day. You get two hours, everybody comes to have a nice little barbecue — I don’t know how many boats we can get down the Thames. But I think just come, I mean, you know, you got to pick the weather, but that would be fun. It’s mandatory. Everybody has to come on a barbecue boat.

What’s your biggest extravagance?

Probably shopping. I love shopping sadly. It’s annoying. I won’t say I’m glad Matches is done, because that’s rude. But it helps a bit. It helps a bit that they’re not around any more.

Who is the most iconic Londoner?

That’s truly a hard one, an iconic Londoner in actual history? Bowie. That’s not that hard, actually. That just came to me. I love him. He’s everything. His whole career of experimenting and reinventing, and being totally authentically himself and making beautiful music, up until the day he left this earth. I truly think he was an alien. He was just amazing.

What’s the best thing a cabbie has ever said to you?

I usually only take black cabs, but they’re great when you get a good one, let me tell you the information that comes out. To be honest, I’ve had some really great conversations. I feel like when you get a good one, they just, they’re so proud about London, and where they come from, and how it used be. I love hearing those stories about how it used to be.

Where do you go to let your hair down?

I mean, it’s been a while since the baby. I’m looking forward to coming back outside, because I ain’t been outside for a minute. I’ve been momming for two and a half years, so now that he’s getting a bit older, watch out London. The last time I let my hair down was probably my birthday, which was last year at Maison Estelle. It’s a good vibe there, I will say, because there’s two or three clubs in there.

And what do you drink when letting your hair down?

I’m a champagne girlie, I love a bit of bubbly. But when I want to step it up, I do like a little bit of tequila.

What’s your favourite beauty spot?

I have two, because hair and make-up who I love usually come to me, but if I had to go to a place, my favourite facialist is Fatma Shaheen [at John Bell & Croyden on Wigmore Street, and Selfridges]. She owns a brand called Skin Design London, which is stocked in Selfridges and other places. Her stuff is beautiful. She’s amazing. I won’t go to anybody else if I can help it. For hair I go to a few different places, but Edmund Bossman is probably my number one. Those are my people.

What are you up to at the moment for work?

Well, I just put out a book called Who’s That Girl?, and I’m already thinking about the next one. Not exactly like this one, but dealing more with modalities that helped me through certain things that I went through. I loved the process, I really did.
